January 2022 Monthly Forecast + Extended Horoscopes
2022 has amazing things in store for all of us, so my Darkling’s there’s a lot to be excited about, especially from March 2022 onwards. Of course, things don’t always get better in the blink of an eye.
January 2022’s theme is renewal. January is the transition month.
January 2022 is interesting because while it’s a brand new beginning of anything and everything, the past is still calling on us to be recognized and acknowledged. Both Mercury and Venus will be retrograde for most of the month and this will certainly bring forth past issues, people and situations. A wave of nostalgia mixed with feelings of hope + promise is what this month holds. 
And while there is hope on the horizon, we need to remember to get there, we still have some important work to do. Venus and Mercury are both retrograde in the underworld dealing with stuff that has been deeply buried but that needs our attention now.
January 2nd, 2022 – New Moon at 12 degrees of Capricorn
Time for us to become more reflective and more intentional about our communication. The universe is on our side. It’s not only OK to dream big in 2022 – it is strongly encouraged! This is the best time to set your intentions for 2022, so you may want to wait with your New Year’s Resolutions for a couple of days.
The New Moon in Capricorn is here to have us stand up for our own personal power and to lay down serious structures that support our long term plans. This new moon wants us to take our power back from anyone or anything that doesn’t have long term potential and success written on it. This is a great new moon to begin a new business endeavor, restructure our finances or set up long term investment strategies. Whatever we take on around this time will have an air of practicality and sussenance.
January 9th, 2022 – Sun Conjunct Venus In Capricorn
In the heart of the Sun, Venus officially begins a new 18-month cycle. Sun conjunct Venus is a rebirth of the heart. Our heart chakra realigns with the Solar Plexus. Our values realign with who we truly are.
There are parts of ourselves that used to define us in the past – and some of these parts may no longer be relevant, they may no longer serve our growth. But there is also a part of us that never changes. And we should not forget about it either, because that’s our essence, who we truly are, behind layers and layers of conditioning.
Beginning of cycles are very powerful, so you really want to take your time to tap into this powerful renewal energy of the Sun-Venus conjunction to get crystal clear about who you really are and what it is that you truly want.
This is not necessarily a time to make bold movements, to make important decisions, since Venus is still retrograde. This is however a time to understand what really matters, what’s truly important.
January 14th, 2022 – Mercury Goes Retrograde In Aquarius until February 3rd
There may be some important announcements and revelations about themes connected to the Saturn/Uranus square. The approach to the pandemic may change, there may be some revisions and new perspectives being considered.
Since Mercury is retrograde, this may not be the final direction, but it’s important to pay attention to what happens when Mercury goes direct because it may open our eyes to something that has been overlooked in the past.
Mercury retrograde could also bring back friends, inventions and groups from the past back into our lives. As with all Mercury retrogrades it’s always a good idea to remener the R themes of: revising, redirecting, reflecting and repurposing will be prominent. A genius way of creating could come back around to be looked at with a new perspective during this time. Since Aquarius rules technology and the internet we could have some snafus within those areas in the form of outages, breakdowns and mishaps.
For anyone whose Sun, Moon or Ascendant sign is between 24 degrees of Capricorn( where Mercury turns direct) to 10 degrees of Aquarius( where Mercury turns retrograde) will be particularly affected by this transit. For everyone else, check where 24 degrees of Capricorn-10 degrees of Aquarius falls in your natal chart to get clues on how this Mercury retrograde will impact you specifically.
January 16th, 2022 – Sun Conjunct Pluto In Capricorn
This is the time of the year to surrender our Ego to whatever the higher Pluto truth requires from us.
There’s a lot of Pluto energy, inviting us to transform at a core, structural level. If you’re still unsure about what all these Venus and Mercury Pluto transformations exactly require from you, pay attention to anything that happens, any download or any aha moments you may have around January 16th.
Some insights about ourselves, about who we really are, can be hard to take in. But as soon as we surrender to whatever this truth is, the exact thing we’ve been terrified of becomes our greatest ally.
January 17th, 2022 – Full Moon In Cancer
This Full Moon will bring back memories from the past and we will be concerned with emotional nourishment and security at this time. Many deeply sensitive topics could come to the surface to be dealt with once and for all. Issues around our mother or mothering topics could be a highlight, and could bring some serious security and “mommy/daddy” issues to the surface in a very intense and full on manner. Power struggles around honoring our emotions vs. keeping up with the Joneses could be big themes.
This tender, sensitive moon will be particularly charged as she will be making an opposition to Pluto, so if you’ve been feeling the Pluto pressure, but also stuck with no clear options on what’s the next step, the Full Moon in Cancer will give you that outside perspective. You’ll be able to step out of yourself and look at things from a witness perspective.
Things will suddenly become clear, and you’ll know exactly what you need to do.
For those of us born with the Sun, Moon or Ascendant close to the 27 degree of Cancer, then this Full Moon will be most felt and impactful. For everyone else, check where 27 degrees of Cancer falls in your natal chart to get a better idea of what emotional themes connected to power and structures will show up in your life.
January 18th, 2022 – Uranus Goes Direct in Taurus
Some sudden changes, announcements, revelations can turn our lives upside down. Some Uranian-driven changes may come at a shock, but if we’re really honest to ourselves we know that these changes only happen to get us unstuck from situations that we’ve been complacent with for too long.
Uranus direct in the sign of Taurus is here to bring in a new way of creating with our finances, sense of security and values. Any issues with investments or even new inventions with money( crypto for example) could see a major boost now.
For those who have 11 degrees of Taurus as their Sun, Moon or Ascendant signs, expect to see a major wake up around your personal sense of security and survival instincts. For everyone else, check where 11 degrees of Taurus falls in your natal chart to see where these innovations connected to prosperity and value will receive a jolt of activity and prominence. (At a personal level, you want to look at the houses ruled by Taurus and Scorpio in your natal chart to see which areas of your life will be impacted by this transit.)
Another important aspect January 18th, 2022 – North Node Enters Taurus, South Node Enters Scorpio
North Node is our soul’s purpose, we will be awakened – sometimes suddenly, otherwise with interesting serendipities and twists – to what it is that we were truly born to do in this lifetime.
January 19th, 2022 – Sun enters Aquaruis
A desire to get out into the world and make a difference will also be prevalent. Expecting the unexpected would be on par for the next 30 days or so.

Happy birthday to all Aquarius people out there! 2021 was an intense year for many of you, and you all deserve a good pat on the shoulder. Your rulers, Saturn and Uranus have just come out of their 3rd (and final square) so relief will come soon!
January 23rd, 2022 – Sun Conjunct Mercury In Aquarius
Sun-Mercury cycles are great times to start a new Mercury project, and since the conjunction happens in Aquarius, this may be something connected to communication, technology, social media, friends, networks and groups of people.
Pay attention to any news and downloads that come around January 23rd, because this will be a relevant theme in the next 3 months.
January 24th, 2022 – Mars Enters Capricorn
The next couple of months are a great time to get intentional about what it is that you want to achieve.
Mars in Capricorn will give you that extra stamina and persistence so you follow through with your projects, no matter what.This energy will fuel our desires to levels we have never experienced before.
We may want something so badly, so obsessively, that no one will stop us from getting it. No mountain is high enough.
January 26th, 2022 – Mercury Re-enters Capricorn
Get ready for some intense revelations and remember that the truth will piss you off first, but it will eventually set you free.
January 29th, 2022 – Venus Goes Direct, Mercury Conjunct Pluto
Now as Venus ( as a morning star) turns direct, we will slowly see progress and forward movement in our ideas with money, structures and power. Just a word to the wise though, Venus will technically still be in her shadow period until early March 2022. She will also meet up with Pluto again at that time, so further issues around dominance, control and manipulation( especially around money, resources and business matters) could still be prevalent until that time.
For anyone who has their Sun, Moon or Ascendant signs around the 11th degree of Capricorn, expect this transit of Venus direct to impact you the most. For everyone else, check where 11 degrees of Capricorn falls in your natal chart to see where power and prestige will return + multiply in that area with Venus now direct.
January 31st, 2022 – New Moon in Aquarius
The New Moon in Aquarius is here to open our eyes to new realms beyond our previous understanding or comprehension. A radical and out of this world perspective will be introduced at this time. Also be prepared to recieve some rather detached but solid ideas that could stand the test of time. A more somber emotional attitude will be the theme with the moon and saturn uniting.
For those folks whose Sun, Moon or Ascendant signs are close to 12 degrees of Aquarius, expect the unexpected with a dash of practicality from Saturn. For everyone else, check where 12 degrees of Aquarius falls in your natal chart to see where these new beginnings will occur.
There is a light at the end of the tunnel, My Darkling’s, things will change for the better, and we’re almost there. Just a little bit more of Pluto shedding and uncovering our truth. In February, March and especially in April we will see the fruits of our intense labor.
Rainbows can’t be formed with rain. The past couple of years have taught you the meaning of gratitude and strength of will. January 2022 wants to remind you of how far you have come and the promise of what lies ahead. This will require faith and trust but everything worth something does. January 2022 is here to bring in new energy of tenacity and resolve, awaken your vulnerability + tenderness and the ability to think outside the box + shift your perspectives around creating a world that works for everyone.
