Do this sleep ritual for 3 or more consecutive nights, to reprogram your sleeping patterns.
- Tuck a medicine pillow into the corner of your pillowcase. (See below for how to make one)
- Do 20 minutes of restorative yoga. If you are new to yoga, there are many guided classes available online.
- Pour a bath – add epsom salts and a few drops of lavender or bergamot oil, and light some candles.
- Have a cup of chamomile or passionflower tea while it draws – set the intention for restful sleep as you sip.
- Choose a point of focus while you bath – it could be music, a candle flame, or simply your breath. Allow your mind wander, but if any stressful thoughts or worries arise, gently bring your focus back to this point.
- After your bath, get into bed and take 10 deep breaths – aim for at least 4 counts on both the inhale and exhale.
