If you haven’t heard of Numerology before, or if you have heard the word but never learned what it was all about, this My Darkling, is for you. Have you ever wondered why certain numbers appear in your life over and over again? Or maybe you’ve wondered about numbers such as your birth date or your street number and if they have a deeper meaning. Well, the answer is yes. In fact, that is what Numerology is – it is the study of numbers and how they affect your life. You could call it the language of numbers, as it applies basic principles of mathematics to do so. Yuck, I don’t care much for math. But onward to some major manifesting, Enchanted Ones!
This is the definition of Numerology as seen on Wikipedia: Numerology is any belief in the divine or mystical relationship between a number and one or more coinciding events. It is also the study of the numerical value of the letters in words, names, and ideas. It is often associated with the paranormal, alongside astrology and similar divinatory arts.
Although there are several theories about the origins of Numerology nobody is absolutely sure when and where it was first discovered. It is known that it was used in ancient Greece, Rome, China and Israel. And, it is thought that Pythagoras, the Greek philosopher is the father of modern Western Numerology.
So let’s try to understand and use Numerology. Numerologists recognize numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 as each having their own unique meaning. Each of these numbers represents various personality traits, patterns, and dispositions, both positive and negative. For example, the number 1 signifies the go-getter who may, at times, be overly domineering. The number 5 signifies a free-spirit, who might also become restless.
The standard numerology chart is an alpha-numeric table (the Pythagorean methodology is pictured below) that assigns a number to every letter of the alphabet. With this chart, you can draw meaning from any word by adding up the sum of its number-letter correspondences. Which number reflects you? Adding up the sum of every letter in your full birth name is a popular practice in the study of numerology, in order to arrive at a single, defining digit.
My favorite is your Life Path Number and is considered the most important indicator of your life, and it is surprisingly the easiest number in your Numerology Chart to calculate. Did I mention my dislike for math? The Life Path Number will tell you what traits or skills you posses, and what major life challenges you may see along the way. This number is also known as your “soul’s contract.” It represents what you chose to learn and how you want to grow in this lifetime. Each number holds a certain vibration, and each vibration produces certain characteristics or qualities. This is why we are able to predict or explain things (and people) with numerology – once we know the vibration, the manifestation of energy is predictable. As with all energy, there is a spectrum of expression and manifestation.
Your Life Path number is derived from your birth date. Reduce each unit (month, day, and year) of your birth date to a single digit. Add these three numbers together and reduce to a single digit. Two-digit numbers must be broken apart and added together until arriving at a single digit.
If your birthday is April 26, 1965, the equation for finding your Life Path number is:
Month: 4 for April = 4
Day: 26 (2+6) = 8
Year: 1965 (1+9+6+5) = 21 (2+1) = 3
Final Number: 4 (Month) + 8 (Day) + 3 (Year) = 15 (1+5) = Life Path Number 6
Life Path 1~ “The Pioneer”
Those born with Life Path 1 are natural born leaders who seek independence and personal accomplishment. Many political and military leaders are on this path. The number one indicates the ability to stand alone, and is a strong vibration. These individuals are skilled at motivating and creatively inspiring others. Enthusiasm and initiation are among their strengths, and they usually overcome any obstacle in their way. Because of their strong drive to have it “their way,” they can lose sight of the needs and sensitivities of others. They need to be conscious of their potential to be overly selfish, demanding, and bossy. Number 1 men and women are energetic pioneers and hard workers. When they know what they want, they’ll make it happen!
Keywords: independent, creative, original, ambitious, determined, self-assured. If expressed negatively: arrogant, stubborn, impatient, self-centered.
As lovers: Number ones take the lead in love. Love and/or the chase is of utmost importance to these lovers. There can be self-centeredness, however. These lovers are willing to experiment, and they can be quite exciting–they can also require a lot of excitement because they can bore easily.
Life Path 2~ “The Helpmate”
Life Path 2 people are the peacemakers and the mediator. always seeking harmony. It is a gentle, considerate, and a sensitive vibration. Motivated by relationships and relating, these individuals are generous and think the best of others. 2 is the ultimate team member – kind, fair, tactful, able to see both sides, and an exceptional listener. Their sensitivity is heightened, which makes them empathetic and, at times, overly emotional. 2 is a path of truth and learning. Their lives are centered around duality – while these individuals are open to the opinions and viewpoints of others, they can have a very difficult time making decisions. They need to remember that sometimes, they serve themselves and others best when they actively choose on their own behalf.
Keywords: diplomatic, warm, peaceful, sensitive. If expressed negatively: too dependent, manipulative, passive-aggressive.
As lovers: Number Twos will bend over backwards to keep a relationship running smoothly. They offer emotional security to their lovers. The number two is associated with the Moon and, since the Moon rules Cancer in astrology, is similar to the Cancer vibration.
Life Path 3~ “The Artist”
Creative self-expression and communication are at the heart of Life Path 3. These people love to connect with others and get excited about life. Sociable, friendly, and outgoing vibration. Kind, positive, and optimistic, Three’s enjoy life and have a good sense of humor. Naturally charismatic and creative, with a passion for conversation, those with Life Path 3 are often writers, actors, musicians, artists, and poets. They have the tendency to take off in all directions, sometimes with little sense of purpose. Number 3 thrives on good conversation, actively sharing and listening. They are very aware of others’ feelings and in general put people at ease. Life Path 3 men and women can also be very moody, even withdrawing at certain times for no apparent reason. It’s helpful for them to ease up on their tendency to be impatient and critical.

As lovers: Number Threes are fun, energetic, and willing to experiment. These lovers need space and contact with others in order to feel content. If they feel confined, they will be unhappy and restless. Allowed the freedom to socialize and scatter their energies, they are exciting and happy lovers.
Life Path 4~ “The Mason”
The builder, the entrepreneur, the one who makes it real…Life Path 4! This is the worker. Practical, with a love of detail, Fours are trustworthy, hard-working, and helpful. These individuals were born to succeed and they’re willing to work hard for it. Organization, planning, and strategizing just get us going on the list of attributes. Intimately linked with the Earth element, Path 4 is the foundation of strength and dependability. Life Path 4 men and women are adept at facing difficulty and persevering. Many of the people we call “rocks” in our lives are 4s – they give us something to stand on. These people need to be careful of over-doing and pushing themselves and others too hard. Perhaps above all else, they know how to put the pieces together and, with patience, can literally build an empire.

As lovers: Although steady and generally trustworthy, Fours can be quite emotional and frustrated if they feel caged in. They tend to need some level of confrontation in their love lives. A relationship that stagnates will bring out their contrary nature. They love to solve problems, and if allowed to “take on” and tackle predicaments, they are very loyal lovers.
Life Path 5~ “The Scribe”
5 is the freedom seeker and progressive thinker! This is the freedom lover. The number five is an intellectual vibration. These are “idea” people with a love of variety and the ability to adapt to most situations. Trying to keep these people down is like trying to cage a wild animal. They need adventure – new things, people, places, and ideas. Living for today, Life Path 5 men and women take risks and push the envelope. And they’re not just concerned with their own freedom – they stand up for the welfare of others and humanity as a whole. These individuals need flexibility and often find it hard to settle down and focus. If they’re not truly living their big adventure, they can look for drama in the world around them, sucking the life out of those closest to them.

As lovers: These lovers are generally attractive to others, as they are adaptable, curious, and friendly. Their wit and love of fun is unmistakable. In order to be happy in love, they need some level of change and variety. They also require mental stimulation. They are quick to adapt to ups and downs, but when under-stimulated, they can be inconsistent and resisting of making commitments.
Life Path 6- “The Teacher”
Life Path 6 is the most domestic of all life paths, and these individuals have strong parental instincts. Their focus is naturally on home, family, and community. This is the peace lover. As lovers: Number Sixes have a deep dislike of discord and will generally work hard at keeping the peace. They are very attached to their homes and their families. At their worst, they take their peace-loving natures too far, and become lethargic, diplomatic to the point of superficiality, and jealous.
Life Path 7~ “The Mystic”
Life Path 7 is very spiritual, and these people have a tendency to withdraw from daily life to pursue higher awareness and wisdom. This is the deep thinker. Deep thinking, analysis, and research draw these people into the mysteries of knowledge, and they themselves can be quite secretive. The number seven is a spiritual vibration. These individuals are tenacious, assertive, and driven. While they can be overly blunt and direct, they are deep feelers underneath. Fabulous judges of character, Path 8 people know just how to create a team of people who can achieve great things together. The leadership skills of the 8 are dynamic – inspirational, courageous, independent, organized, and ambitious. It’s extremely important for these individuals to make their own decisions and act on them. They need to be careful not to minimize or suppress the opinions and accomplishments of others. They are well-served by expressing their emotions.

Number Nine is a tolerant, somewhat impractical, and sympathetic vibration. 9 is the highest single-digit number reflecting increased responsibility toward humankind – the path of the humanitarian; of selfless giving and desire to make the world a better place. Those with this life path are honorable, generous, trustworthy, and willing to help others. With their magnetic presence, people are naturally drawn to them for leadership. Life Path 9 is a journey of completion which inherently implies spiritual consciousness. If these individuals pursue materialistic ends, they will always be dissatisfied. They do need to balance their giving to ensure their own needs are met, but true joy comes from the spirit and action of altruism. Path 9 people express emotion, often through visual art, literature, or theater. This path is not easy, and some will fight it. These people are burning through past karma, bringing old patterns to an end.
Keywords: jack of all trades, humanitarian, sympathetic, helpful, emotional, tolerant, active, determined. If expressed negatively: financially careless, moody, bullying, overly emotional, sullen, restless.
As lovers: These lovers are involved and helpful. Because they are sympathetic, they can easily be doormats. They show their love by helping their partners, and assuming their lovers’ problems. If triggered, their emotions can be volcanic, and a seemingly meek personality can resort to bullying tactics when unhappy.
