Ways to Use Black Salt in Your Magic
There are SO many uses for this powerful mixture. Here are just a few:
- Spread over your thresholds and windowsills to protect the home from negative energy and dark magic
- Encircle a candle to contain the energy within OR to amplify your intentions: best for banishings, bindings, reversals
- Add to banishing, binding, and warding spell bottles, bags, jars, and sachets

Can You Eat It?
My Darkling’s, there is a type of salt that is edible but it’s NOT this one! There’s ashes in this recipe…you wouldn’t eat the ashes out of an ashtray or from the bottom of your fireplace or firepit, would you? So DON’T use this in your meals or foods of any kind!
How to Preserve
Black salt keeps for quite a long time. I’ve had luck keeping it in a jar for up to two years. I typically use it quickly, though, so I haven’t experimented with a longer period of time than that. Once it’s in a glass container of your choice, store it in a cool, dry place. My favorite spot is in my witch’s cubboard, along with my other magical herbs, spices, curios and roots. Label it correctly, and if you have other folks using this space be sure to write NON-EDIBLE so there’s no unfortunate mistakes.
